Fall is drawing closer and that can only mean one thing – new reproductions are on the way. Last month undoubtedly it was the Reproduced 1963-1966 Piatigorsky Cup Chess Set that got the most exposure. A few other notable announcements last month include Backgammon Sets, Geometric Minimalist Pattern Seamless Design Chess Set.

Starting with Reproduced 1963-1966 Piatigorsky Cup Chess Set. This peerless 1963-1966 Piatigorsky Cup chess set in Staunton style is made up of bud rosewood / ebony wood and boxwood. This is a historic design featuring the one-piece knight with long flowing mane, attractive eyes, nostrils, and mouth. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Pieces are expertly carved in India and triple weighted for prodigious hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board.

Moving on to Geometric Minimalist Pattern Seamless Design chess pieces, this is a simple and yet interesting Seamless Minimalist design features a 3.5″ King with a base diameter of 1.18″. Unlike other sets, the base dimensions of this set are of the same size at 1.18″. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in Stained Box Wood. Each chessmen is carefully handcrafted in India and influenced from our minimalist series. This geometrical design chess pieces are non-weighted and non-felted.

Backgammon sets that made an appearance last month are definitely worth checking out. Unlike chess, backgammon is one of the oldest two-player board game combined with strategy and luck. It is probably about 5,000 years old game and originated in Iraq—previously Mesopotamia. Backgammon is one of the most popular board game in most casinos. The use of the dice is believed to be the reason why backgammon is considered to be a form of gambling. The only way to win this game is by removing all of the opponent pieces from the board. The first month of the year saw plenty of announcements. Stained crimson Dubrovnik chess set version 2.0 undoubtedly takes the cake last month. Some customer’s felt that the knight in our previous repro was not an accurate reproduction, so we heard to our customer’s opinion and respected their verdict by bringing a closest possible knight in our version 2.0. The stained crimson Dubrovnik chess set is simply gorgeous, and exquisitely striking, therefore each piece is carved with meticulous care. It’s a chess set that is truly like no other. Cultivating a new level of craftsmanship and artisanal luxury in our limited edition chess set, we have also launched our most elegant limited edition Dubrovnik yet. The new stained crimson color is subject to only the most rigorous quality inspections, ensuring that if you’re holding any crimson piece in your hands, it is completely free from red color discoloration. And as long as we are on the subject of reproduced antique chess sets, the Reproduced 1849 Staunton Chess Set Version 2.0 is the one that deserves some attention. This is a new chess set that has been developed under the concept of a “Graded Up 1849 Chess Set” while maintaining the nostalgic historic feeling and unmatched craftsmanship of the existing 1849 chess set. Our revised reproduction has refined knight, non antiqued box wood and does not come with king side stamping. The chess pieces are made in box wood and ebony wood. The king is 4.4″ high. The chess set comes with 34 pieces including 2 extra queens. This set is Triple Weighted and the chess pieces have thick green felt on their bases.

Another month went by and it was definitely dominated by new arrivals, so let’s recap some of the highlights of September month.
