Chess Carnival 2018 was jam-packed with new arrivals. The past month has been really a busy one, we introduced a bunch of new reproductions last month. First and the foremost on the list is Reproduced Cavalier Antique Chess Set Staunton Series. We are pleased to announce the impeccable Cavalier series chess set, exquisitely made up of ebony and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4 inches and its base is robust 1.73 inches. This is a classic design featuring the magnificent and robust knight.

Next on the list is Reproduced 90s Imperial Collector Series Chess Set. Designing this chess set has been attempted – but never before accurate like this. This chess set is reproduced in collaboration with one of the greatest & oldest chess carvers in the chess world. The same carver who crafted the original imperial Chess Set back in 90s. The new version features a significantly improved knight, Rook & Queen. We’ve also increased the width of every chessmen. The Wider base gives the better stability while playing speed chess.

Reproduced Richard Whitty Antique chess set is the most beautiful chess set we have ever launched! Yes, you heard it right Richard Whitty set has been generating a lot of buzz & spreading it’s attention like wildfire in every chess enthusiast mind. Its new kind of king stamping is marvelous. Richard Whitty was one of the greatest chess carvers of all time. He worked in the John Jaques factory which was in London and carved some spectacular chess sets. Though Richard Whitty carved many chess sets but this design had no match. Know More=>

From 2007 to till date, we have launched the different kind of chess sets ranging from magnetic series to giant series, but this chess set is specially designed for die-hard chess fans out there. Reproduced Vintage 1950’s Circa Bohemia Staunton Series German Chess Set. This chess set is also reproduced in collaboration with “Michael Ladzinski”, one of the greatest chess collectors in the chess world. The 1950’s vintage circa Bohemia German set was very popular in 1950’s because of its fabulous design and its so-called “dragon” Knights. A later version of the 50’s set was used at the 1970 Siegen Olympiad with less impressive “chicken head” Knights.

Moving on to the Candidates Series. The Candidates Series Staunton chess set is exquisitely made from bud rosewood or ebony wood and natural boxwood. This is a captivated design featuring the magnificently robust and remarkable knight. Reproduced 1880s-90s Circa Lasker Staunton Pattern Antique Chess Set is an arresting reproduction, mainly for its excellent value and exquisite design, featuring the finest aspects of Staunton pattern. This Lasker Staunton Pattern Chess set was produced by the legendary company Jaques of London in 1880. Jaques of London company was known for their well-finished quality chess pieces, they introduced their first chess set in the fall of 1849. 1849 Staunton chess set was beautiful in its functionality yet easy to be produced in large scale. Shortly after the 1849 chess set became popular Jaques of London launched a new chess set.

Things have really been getting heated during the last week when we launched Reproduced 1961 Soviet Championship Baku Chess Set. Reproduced 1961 Soviet Championship Baku Chess Set’s dark pieces are made of genuine Ebonized boxwood and the light pieces are made of Boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4″ tall with a base diameter of 1.57″. The carving and turning the quality of the knight is quite spectacular. Knights have a divergent style of carving on each side making even more captivating pieces from different angle views. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique collar rings and elegant curves. There are no cuts in the turrets of the rook. Know More=>

Last but not the least is Reproduced 90s French Championship Tournament Chess Set. This peerless Reproduced Fide Approved 90s French Tournament Chess Set in Staunton style is made up of bud rosewood / ebonized and boxwood. This chess set has been specifically designed for the tournaments or serious chess players. The King proudly stands at 3.89 inches and its base is a robust 1.61 inches. This fascinating French chess set was designed by the famous French maker called Chavet in the early 90s. The set was used during the iconic World Chess Championship in 1990(Lyon). Since then, the design has gone through many iterations but this early 90s version is one of the best chess sets ever designed in the Staunton style.

Journey of 2017 – A Decade of Dominance

Our Reproduction category has now 111 unique chess sets compared to 77 at the end of 2016. We are grateful that you appreciate the hard work we put into our unique reproductions and we hope to do even better in 2018.

It was a busy year indeed as evident by the 50+ new chess sets and as many as 1200 genuine customer reviews that appeared on our home page.

The Championship Series Magnus Carlsen Chess Set in Staunton pattern has been specifically designed for chess tournament/club players. The set features a Tournament standard 3.75″ King with a base diameter of 1.61 inches. This chess set is expertly weighted from our master artisans and it’s superb size proportioning from a king to pawn make this chess set an excellent choice for fast chess games in tournaments/clubs or regular home and school play. Chess vs Checkers vs Backgammon – Clash of the Titans

Chess is regarded as the most strategic game among other abstract board games. The tactics and strategies involved in the game often makes it the favorite game among intellectuals.

The people who play chess tend to be doing well academically as well. There are other abstract board games as well, like Checkers and Backgammon.

Let us compare the three games chess, checkers, and backgammon. Each game is different in its own way and has its own strong points. Comparing checkers, chess and backgammon on different –

Comparison in terms of judging the difficulty level in learning the concept and rules: Checkers is an easy to learn game. The simple rule is – If you can’t move, you lose.

When it comes to learning the rules, backgammon is the next easiest game. Backgammon is played by two players with 15 checkers each on a board consisting of 24 spaces or points. The checkers are moved according to rolls of the dice.

Each player tries to bring his own checkers home and bear them off before his opponent does, hitting and blocking the enemy checkers along the way. Understanding the whole concept of backgammon at once is a little difficult but still not that difficult as chess.

Chess is the most difficult one out of all these. The objective of the game of checkmate the king is easily understood but still, it is the most complex board game as it involves different movements, tactics, and strategies.

Comparison in terms of changes in number of pieces on board – In Checkers, Backgammon, and chess, the number of pieces on the board decreases and hence they all follow the concept of reduction.
