Reproduced 1972 Reproduced Fischer-Spassky Staunton Pattern Chess Set Version 2.0: chessbazaar proudly presents you an improved version of Fischer-Spassky set in Bud Rosewood & Boxwood.

The King stands at 3.75 inches with a 1.6-inch base, showcasing excellent craftsmanship. The dark pieces are made from Bud Rosewood, intricately carved in India, and weighted for a solid feel and satisfying thud on the board.

Pieces Weight: 1150 grams (40.56 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood, known for its ease of carving and aesthetic appeal. The set includes extra queens for easy pawn promotion, and each piece has a green felt pad on its base for smooth movement on the board. 

History: Challenger In 1972, Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky faced off for the World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland, in what became known as the "Match of the Century." Fischer won 12.5–8.5, becoming the 11th World Champion. However, Fischer lost the first game due to a blunder and forfeited the second over a dispute with the playing conditions. The match seemed headed for forfeit, but Spassky, unwilling to win under those circumstances, conceded. The third game was moved to a back room to accommodate Fischer's discomfort with the cameras, and he went on to defeat Spassky.
