The King proudly stands at 3.79(Tournament Size) inches and its base is a robust 1.6 inches. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in sheesham wood. All Chess pieces are expertly carved in India and weighted for prodigious hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board.
Weight: 1150 grams (40.56 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.
The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces have pristine cut green felt pads on their wide bases which give you the smooth movement on the chess board.
History: Challenger Robert James"Bobby" Fischer and Boris Spassky battled for the World Chess Championship in 1972. The match took place in 1972 at Reykjavik the capital city of Iceland and has been dubbed the Match of the Century. Fischer won the match by impressive 12½–8½, becoming the eleventh undisputed World Champion.
This historic Fischer and Boris Spassky Chess set was produced by the legendary company Jaques of London, who also introduced the first Staunton chess set in the fall of 1849.
