chessbazaar™  is proud to introduce the " Reproduced Argentina Olympic (Ajedrez Olímpico, 'Campo') Chess Set". This chess set features chessmen that are crafted with a combination of ebony wood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 3.75(Tournament Size) inches and its base is a robust 1.5 inches. The dark chess pieces are made up of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade genuine ebony wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. 

Chess Pieces Weight : 1600 grams approx (56.43 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for the white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. Pieces have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The Knights are well-reproduced and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique collar rings and unique angular miter cut on the bishops .   All chess pieces  have a wide base which adds another interesting dimension to the set.

History: This distinctive chess set was used in Argentina Chess Olympiad. The  Argentina Olympic set was very popular in the 1980's because of its unique collar rings and extraordinary knights. The original Chess Sets which was used in the Argentina Chess Olympiad  are very rare and selling at thousands of dollars a set but that is not what every chess collector can spend on a hobby.
