Special thanks to "Stephen Kong A.K.A. Chess Praxis" for his exceptional efforts in making this dream chess set a reality
Features : The 7th Chess Olympiad wooden chess pieces offers a 3.75" King with a diameter of 1.6" and all chess pieces are Weighted by adding a stud of iron within the base. The dark chess pieces are made of Sheesham Wood and the lighter chess pieces are made of Boxwood.
The 7th Chess Olympiad (Swedish: Den 7:e Schackolympiad), organized by the FIDE and comprising an open and (unofficial) women's tournament, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess, took place between July 31 and August 14, 1937, in Stockholm, Sweden.
A 'Swedish club set' from 1931, which was also the model used in the Stockholm Olympiad in 1937 (see the photo of GMs Isaac Kashdan and Gösta Stoltz in action, this game decided the match – Stoltz was winning but lost control of the game in time-trouble and Kashdan scored an important point for the US team, ensuring a 2½:1½ win). If I'm not mistaken this is one of two similar sets designed by Gustaf Nyholm (Sweden's strongest player in the first couple of decades of the 20th century).
Weight : 1138 grams (40.14 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.
Package Includes : 34 Chessmen(2 extra queens included). chess board NOT included in this sale.
