Features: This imposing chess set "The Admiral Series" in Staunton pattern, is made up of bud rosewood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.48 inches and its base is robust 1.88 inches. This is a version 2.0 featuring the magnificent and all new robust knights.

King, Queens, Bishops, Rooks and Pawns have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base for smooth movement on the chess board. Craftsmanship: The carving of the knight is quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, details around the mane. Design Inspiration: War Admiral was an American thoroughbred racehorse, also known as the fourth winner of the American Triple Crown. He also won the title "Horse of the Year" in 1937. War Admiral was elected to the Hall of Fame in the same year as arch-rival Seabiscuit and ranked #13 in The Blood-Horse ranking of the top 100 US thoroughbred champions. Inspired by the famous horse War Admiral, our Admiral II Series personifies the legacy of the War Admiral. The lifelike details at the mane and a distinctive head shape of the knight represent the War Admiral horse in full gallop.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
