We are pleased to announce the impeccable CB Red Rum luxury series chess set, exquisitely made up of ebony and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.4 inches and its base is robust 1.9 inches. This is a classic design featuring the magnificent and robust knight. 

The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and triple weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops and Pawns have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

Weight : 2240 grams (79.01 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

Craftsmanship: The carving of the knight is quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, uniformity around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly commended to allow the set to truly stand out. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully hand crafted in India with dainty details. Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces is comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $700+ by other retailers.

Design Inspiration: The reigning Red Rum was the only horse in the history of the Aintree Grand National to win the race three times in 1973, 1974 and 1977. Red Rum was the only one who achieved an unmatched historic treble when he came second in the two intervening years (1975 & 1976). Despite the fact that "The Grand National" is a notoriously difficult race and described as "the ultimate test of a horse’s courage". He was also renowned for his jumping ability, having not fallen in 100 races. There's no doubt that Red Rum was one of the best horses ever stepped into "The Grand National". Inspired by the famous horse Red Rum, our Red Rum Series personifies the legacy of the Red Rum horse. The uniformity in mane and a distinctive head shape of the knight represent the Red Rum horse in full gallop. 

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
