The Empire II Luxury Series Staunton Chess Pieces in Bud Rose / Box Wood - 4.4" King

We are pleased to announce the Empire II Luxury series heirloom quality Staunton chess set exquisitely made from Bud Rosewood and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.4 inches and its base is robust 1.8 inches. This is a luxury design featuring the magnificently robust and remarkable knight. 

The dark chess pieces are made of Bud Rosewood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than Bud Rosewood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the Bud Rosewood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the Bud Rosewood are exceptional.

Weight: 2070 grams (73.01 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. All Pieces are uniquely designed without any collar rings and have thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

Craftsmanship: The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, craftsmanship around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding, especially the sleek shank and phenomenal finial of the king. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade Bud Rosewood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully handcrafted in India and takes some influences from the Empire Series Wooden Chess Pieces. Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces are comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $800+ by other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
