The Imperial Collector Series weighted chess pieces with a 3.75" King and base diameter of 1.77". Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in Ebony wood. Because of its rarity, Ebony wood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. Ebony wood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood for most high-end chess sets.
Weight: 1600 grams (56.43 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.
The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns have unique rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique collar rings and elegant curves.

About: 2014 Sinquefield Cup
The 2014 Sinquefield Cup was the chess tournament honoring the founders of Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, featuring six best players of the world including: GM Magnus Carlsen, GM Levon Aronian, GM Veselin Topolov, GM MaximeVachier-Lagrave, GM Hikaru Nakamura and GM Fabiano Caruana. It was a double round-robin tournament. It was held from August 27 to September 7 2014.

Sinquefield chess set was first seen in the 2014 Sinquefield Cup organized by the FIDE. It is the highest-rated tournament in the history of chess, brought six of the world’s top-nine Grandmasters together at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. Six of the top nine players in the world competed in a 10-round, double round robin for the $100,000 top prize and the right to hoist the coveted Sinquefield Cup. The stress showed in the first half of St Louis, particularly in round three where Carlsen chose the Bishop Opening 1 e4 e5 2 Bc4 for the first time in his life, stood worse from the opening, made a bishop sacrifice which Caruana defended accurately and finally collapsed into defeat. The winner was Fabiano Caruana who got $100,000 top prize money and honor to own the coveted Sinquefield Cup.
