Features: The Pegasus Series weighted chess pieces offers a 4.6" King with a base diameter of 1.8" and all chess pieces are Triple Weighted. Each of the chess pieces has thick green felt on their bases. The dark pieces are made in bud rosewood a.k.a padauk and the lighter pieces are made in boxwood. The set includes a complete set of 34 pieces with extra queens.
Why Pegasus Series? Pegasus, an immortal winged divine stallion, is one of the best-known creatures in Greek mythology. Winged horses like Pegasus have been used to symbolize freedom, power, and victory in many cultures. Pegasus is said to have sprung from the head of Medusa, a mythical Gorgon sister with hair of snakes and a stare that could turn a man to stone. According to legend, everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring spring burst forth. Our Pegasus knights in this set are inspired by the same Greek stallion. The mane of the knight depicts the folded wings of the Pegasus. The flared nostrils of the knight depict the Pegasus which has just landed on earth after a long flight. Craftsmanship: The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the curly rounded hairs of the knight. The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, curly rounded hairs, teeth and, craftsmanship around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding, each chessmen is carefully handcrafted in India. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces are comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $900+ by other retailers.

Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.Wooden Chess BoardThis beautiful Board is made of Bud Rose Wood on the darker side and Box Wood on the lighter side.The size of the Board is (23" x 23") / (58.4 cm x 58.4 cm) with square size of (2.4" x 2.4") / (60 mm x 60 mm). The Board is 22 mm thick. The weight of the Chess Board is 5500 grams (194 oz).
