The sweeping mane, a distinctive head shape and a bold design of the knight represent the "Lion of Punjab". Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire, The Sikh Empire, based in the Punjab region, rose to power in the early 19th century, lasting from 1799 to 1849. It was established by Ranjit Singh, who united the autonomous Sikh Misls, building upon the foundations of the Dal Khalsa. The Golden Temple in Amritsar was completely renovated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
