The Traditional Russian chess set is from the old Russian design favored in major international chess tournaments throughout the 1950s and 1960s. The dark chess pieces are made of Sheeshamand the light chess pieces are made of Boxwood. Its lovely color makes it very attractive to chess players world-wide. The King proudly stands at 3.1" inches and its base is a robust 1.3" inches. Wider base and superb size proportioning from the king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. Along with the unique long, downward-pointing head of the knight, what makes this reproduction so unique is how it feels in your hand.
