Chetak was the famous horse of Maharana Pratap, whom Pratap rode during the Haldighati, June 21, 1576. Chetak laid down his life in this battle and since then has been immortalized in the folklore of India. The Indian Chetak Series is our humble tribute to the faithful and courageous horse Chetak. This superlative chess set "The Indian Chetak II" in Staunton pattern, is made of ebony wood and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.3 inches and its base is a robust 1.9 inches. Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in Ebony wood. Because of it's rarity, ebony wood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. Ebony wood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood for luxury chess sets. The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and triple weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. Chess pieces have unique collar rings and thick green felt on their bases for smooth movement on the chess board. The knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our master artisans have to offer.
Weight: 2200 grams (77.60 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.
