Detailed Description

Leatherette Storage Box Brown Leatherette storage box for chess pieces with double tray and fixed slots for putting each piece separately. This box is best suited for pieces with the king height of 4.2" - 4.8". Comes with suit case style handle to carry and is also fitted with a lock for safe upkeep. The box has been lined with beige velvet to protect the pieces from scratching. The outer dimensions of the box are 15" (38.1 cm) x 13-1/2" (34.29 cm) x 5.1" (13 cm). The sale is for an empty storage box only and the chess pieces are NOT INCLUDED in the sale. There are two trays in the box to keep two sides of the set. The upper tray can be pulled out as it comes with little leatherette handles on either side. The lower tray is fixed inside the box. There is a provision to put 17 pieces in either tray as most of the high-end sets come with extra queens. The weight of the storage box is 3450 grams (121.69 oz).

I purchased this storage box to protect my beautiful Arabian chess set. I strongly recommend you to do the same. This box is really elegant and beautiful. It accommodates any kind of chess pieces and formats because the foam is really soft. The leather looks elegant and looks durable. A very minor downside is that the knight holes in the foam could be a little bigger, but I could accommodate the knights anyway. Purchase a good storage box and you will not regret.

Attractive and well-constructed

I have several of these boxes (in all three styles: black, brown, and crocodile) and they are all consistently well-crafted, attractive, and functional. The boxes are quite sturdy and the pieces fit snugly into the padded compartments. 4-5 of the sets I have purchased were shipped in these boxes which is a testament to their ability to keep the pieces safe. When pieces were shipped in the box, a thin foam pad was added to prevent vertical movement of pieces which can be used for extra protection but probably isn't necessary for most transportation needs and certainly not for storage. The boxes do have a distinct smell that is not particularly strong or offensive. The odor wasn't noticeable after leaving the open box in a storage room for a couple of days.

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.
