Now we've something new for chess collectors community. Presenting you the Romanian-Hungarian National Tournament Chess Set. Some chess collectors felt that the base of King & queen in our previous lot was inadequate, so we heard to our customer’s opinion and respected their verdict by increasing the base width of king & queen. The Wider base gives the better stability while playing speed chess. Now the King proudly stands at 3.85" tall with a base diameter of 1.57". The dark chess pieces are made of pitch black ebonized boxwood. The opposing pieces are made of natural boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. For superior protection against scratches and dirt, we've shielded the pieces with buff-polish instead of lacquer finish.

The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns have unique rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The Knights are well-crafted and represent the highest grade of knight carving skills that our Indian artisans have to offer.

The lathe work on the each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the elegant curves on Knights. There are 4 cuts in the turrets of the rook. Like the Russian/Soviet chess sets, the balls on the bishops are of opposite color. All chess pieces have a very wide base which adds another interesting dimension to the set.

This chess set is reproduced in collaboration with "Michael Ladzinski", one of the greatest chess collectors in the chess world. This popular set is the rage of tournament players in Hungary and Romania. Its refreshing to see these style pieces used in place of the mundane FIDE golden rosewood pieces in the Hungarian and Romanian tournaments. A great set for tournament, blitz or home play and a "must have" set for any chess collector.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
