This FIDE Approved Staunton-style chess set is crafted from Sheesham & Boxwood (also available in Bud Rosewood & Ebonized Variant), designed for tournaments and serious players.

The King stands at 3.66 inches with a 1.57-inch base. Featuring a historic one-piece knight with intricate details, the set exhibits superior craftsmanship. Weighted at 1010g (±10%), all pieces have a thick green felt base for smooth movement.

Boxwood is traditionally used for the white side, ensuring aesthetic appeal. The set includes extra queens for effortless promotion. The knight carving reflects the finest Indian craftsmanship.

History: Originally designed by Chavet in the early 90s, this set was used in the 1990 Lyon World Chess Championship. It remains one of the best Staunton-style designs.

Craftsmanship: Each chess piece is handcrafted in India, taking inspiration from our German Knight Tournament Series. With elegant curves, unique collar rings, and finely turned lathe work, the set mirrors high-end versions sold for $500+.

Very nice and playable

Bought on sale.\nVery good finish, looks, and playability. I have deducted one star since a couple of the pieces has protruding weights. It is very little so I am not bothered by it and it does not affect how the pieces play. I have several sets of modern Chavet in different sizes, no vintage, and these are good enough for me.

I have wanted to have this chess set since I was young, but buying an original was just impossible. I spent years looking for a reproduction like this one, till I finally found it. Honestly, I was hesitant at first because Chessbazaar is located in India, and that's very far from Mexico! I finally made up my mind and I don't regret it. I received my 3 chess sets in a less than a week!\nI used a discount coupon and the price was a real bargain. About the pieces I cannot complain, they're truly beautiful and I just love them.

Nice, Robust set for playing. Cant go wrong

This is a nice set with a robust design for playing. The design is more refined than a standard German or French set which makes it more aesthetically pleasing. The Sheesham & Box wood variant is the simplest and the best in my opinion as there is less potential for any issues with the finishing and overall quality. The Sheesham wood also displays a nice grain. The set is weighted adequately although if they could get more weight into the pieces that would be appreciated. If you are thinking about buying a good chess set you can't go wrong with this option.

Un set en armonía total: forma, proporción entre sus piezas, peso, calidad de la madera y precio. Por donde se mire. Me extrañó ver en la foto de Promocion el set hecho en bud rose a 99 dólares. Sin embargo al revisar el anuncio solo aparecía con ese precio el ebonizado y el de shesam. Me hubiese encantado ver el de bud rose rebajado también. Sugiero que si un set no está rebajado no se muestre en la foto.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
