Introducing the Romanian-Hungarian National Tournament Chess Set. Based on feedback from collectors, we’ve increased the base width of the King and Queen for better stability, especially in speed chess. The King now stands at 3.85" tall with an enhanced base diameter. 1.57". The dark pieces are made of pitch-black ebonized boxwood, while the white pieces are crafted from natural boxwood. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted from the finest wood and polished by hand for a rich, lasting shine. To protect against scratches and dirt, the pieces are buff-polished instead of lacquered.

The set includes free extra queens for easy pawn promotion. Each piece is expertly carved and weighted for a great hand-feel and a satisfying thud on the board. The King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns feature unique rings and thick green felts for smooth movement. The Knights showcase the highest level of carving skills from our Indian artisans.

The lathe work on the each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the elegant curves on Knights. There are 4 cuts in the turrets of the rook. Like the Russian/Soviet chess sets, the balls on the bishops are of opposite color. All chess pieces have a very wide base which adds another interesting dimension to the set.

This chess set is reproduced in collaboration with "Michael Ladzinski", one of the greatest chess collectors in the chess world. This popular set is the rage of tournament players in Hungary and Romania. Its refreshing to see these style pieces used in place of the mundane FIDE golden rosewood pieces in the Hungarian and Romanian tournaments. A great set for tournament, blitz or home play and a "must have" set for any chess collector.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
