1951-54 Ceska Klubovka FIDE Tournament Chess Pieces Ebony wood & Boxwood - 4.0" King | CHESSBAZAAR

Just received my...1951-1954 ""Česká klubovka"" FIDE Tournament Czech Reproduction Chess Set...Wow! What can i say, The pieces are so beautiful, I love them, Love the look of each and every piece! the details are amazing, i can't stop looking at them! Thank-You so much for a wonderful set, as for the speed of delivery Amazing! Thank-You once again, i will certainly be ordering more of your other beautiful sets.

I just received this chess set today. I got it in a combination offer with storage box. I had seen pics of this set for some time, but had always thought it a bit garish and passed on it. Finally, I saw it at a deal I couldn't resist and decided to take a flyer on it. I cannot thank Chess Bazaar enough for making this reproduction of a significant historical set available at a very reasonable price. It is a magnificent set, truly awesome, and can't fully be appreciated without seeing it ""in the wood"". Pics can't do it justice. It was immaculately carved and everything about it seems perfect. Not a single flaw is yet apparent. Just an incredibly beautiful, attractive set. I would highly recommend it for display, casual play, or study, and is one that serious collectors should not miss. It is also suitable for serious play, though I would not recommend using it for rough play or in blitz situations - be careful of the protruding ears on those knights and try not to drop them. The somewhat bell-shaped pawns, the brick-like carving on the rooks, and the quite different from the usual styling of the kings, queens, and bishops are a few of the unique features of this set. I strongly recommend getting this set with the ""musician""-style storage box if you are purchasing it separately. It fits perfectly in it, will protect the set well, and looks like they are made to go together. I am very impressed with this set. Worth much more than the asking price - this is why Chess Bazaar is my favorite chess company - they have quality items at bargain prices. If you obtain this quality reproduction set at under a thousand dollars or its equivalent, you are stealing it.

I'm so, so happy to have this Czech set of pieces! They look terrific and, in my opinion, have an extra-special appeal because of the kings, queens, and bishops sporting a bit of their counterparts colors. Also, I made sure to order them with the glossy finish because - besides the added protection - it's a real compliment to glossy finished boards. Thank you, Chess Bazaar!

Awesome Set I love it!!

I am very satisfied with the quality of these 1951-1954 ""ČESKÁ KLUBOVKA"" FIDE Tournament Czech chess pieces. They are crafted of a perfect size, beautiful detail, nice color and great finish. They look and feel just fantastic to play with. I am also very satisfied with the customer service, especially the advice and the quick reply from ChessBazaar. Communication is easy and I feel like a special respected customer. For these reasons I highly recommend buying theses chess pieces without hesitation.

A Magnificent set! Just Magnificent. It has it all: extravagant but elegant, fine, certainly something you notice and remember, well proportioned, excellent figure of each piece. Not the usual design, all somewhat similar, with a beautiful matching chessboard you can spend memorable moments. Nailed it.

5 stars in the quality section is a bit too much, but the shop deserves them just for the idea of making these pieces. In my opinion ceska klubovka is one of the most beautiful sets ever made. The pieces are original and stylish and it can be seen that they were made by a true artist. Comparing this set to other klubovka sets justifies the opinion that ChessBazaar chose a good model (even though not the most beautiful - in my opinion) as a base to make this set. The pieces could be a bit thinner, the ears of the knight and the crown of the queen could be more solid. The black lines on the white king and the bishops' heads in the original klubovka sets were most often burned. Painting them is acceptable, but i would use a different paint to achieve the glossy effect (like on the black pieces). The small imperfections (that can occur when working with wood) are acceptable in these pieces (the style is the main power of the klubovka sets). There was one bigger defect, but I will contact the maker about it. After all, it does not affect my evaluation of the idea of making this set. As the enthusiast of klubovka I can forgive a lot just because the set was created. In my opinion it is the best klubovka available.

There is so much to love about this vintage Czech reproduction. But first I would like to congratulate and thank Gurpreet Singh Khokhar and ChessBazaar for accepting the challenge and making this gorgeous Czech reproduction at my request. Kudos to ChessBazaar for being the first and only company to make a vintage Czech reproduction. Now about this magnificent set. The workmanship for the difficult piece turnings and exquisite hand-carved knights is exceptional. I love the unique king and queen crowns which are refreshingly different from the standard Staunton crowns. The exquisite hand carve knights are a sight to behold. The bulbous top bishops are gorgeous. WOW!!, the awesome rooks etched in bricks. And the double ring piece bases and pawns accentuates the set's beauty. I think you will love this historic Czech reproduction as much as I do and it's highly recommended.
