We are pleased to announce the impeccable CB Red Rum luxury series chess set, exquisitely made up of ebony and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.4 inches and its base is robust 1.9 inches. This is a classic design featuring the magnificent and robust knight.
The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional.
The opposing boxwood pieces, traditionally used for the white side, are easy to craft and showcase fine details. The set includes extra queens for seamless pawn promotion. Triple-weighted and expertly carved, the pieces offer a premium hand feel with a satisfying thud on the board. King, Queen, Bishop, and Pawns feature unique collar rings and thick green felt for smooth movement. The knights are masterfully crafted, reflecting the finest skills of Indian artisans.
Weight : 2240 grams (79.01 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.
Craftsmanship: The knight's carving is spectacular—eyes, nostrils, teeth, and mane showcase fine craftsmanship. Other pieces are also highly detailed, making the set stand out. Meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony and polished by hand, they offer a rich, long-lasting shine. Each chessman is carefully crafted in India with intricate details. Superb size proportioning from king to pawn highlights true craftsmanship. The design, quality, and craftsmanship rival luxury chess sets sold for $700+ by other retailers.
Design Inspiration: The reigning Red Rum is the only horse to win the Aintree Grand National three times (1973, 1974, 1977) and secure an unmatched treble with second-place finishes in 1975 & 1976. Known for his exceptional jumping, he never fell in 100 races, proving his legendary status. The Red Rum Series, inspired by this iconic horse, features a knight with a distinctive head shape and uniform mane, capturing Red Rum in full gallop.
Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.
All chess pieces have an elegant visual appeal that blends well for permanent display on a cocktail table. Matching chess board for these pieces is available at our web store at extra cost. Shop Here
