Features: The Championship Series Chess Set in Staunton pattern has been specifically designed for chess tournament/club players. The set features a Tournament standard 3.75" King with a base diameter of 1.41 inches. .

Pieces Weight: 1200 grams approx. (42.32 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

Dark chess pieces are made up of ebonized boxwood and the opposing pieces are made up of natural boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail.

Craftsmanship: Pieces are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long lasting shine. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces is impeccable.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

These grandeur chess pieces are undoubtedly an excellent choice for the chess tournaments, clubs or schools .

Play like Magnus Carlsen.

This is the chess set style that Magnus put his name to, but here it is made from wood, and all the better for it.\n Retaining its Staunton heritage, but with a more modern and minimalist appearance, the pieces are beautifully made, and are a good size and weight.

So nice and refreshing!

When this set first came out, I found it rather odd but the more I looked at it, the more it grew on me. Although I tend to favour classical Staunton styles, I could not resist ordering this ""modern"" Magnus style version. \n\nI am so glad I did!. It is a refreshing change from the usual Staunton style and it feels good in your hand. Not a bulky set, but it feels solid and robust (be careful with the King finials). I especially like the pawns with their uniquely styled base. The only quibble I have is that I would have liked the set to be a little heavier. It's about 15% less than the advertised weight. Had it come in closer to that weight, it would be perfect.\n\nAs usual, the team at chessbazaar produced a good quality product at a reasonable price and, of course, shipped it lightning fast.

I bought this set a while back for under 100. A very nice set I love the design of the set for a mid-range priced set you can't go wrong. This set looks better in person than on the site. Highly recommended inexpensive set. All the pieces look great. Set also has a very different design of its own and it catches the eye. Another 5 stars set from chessbazaar. How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
