We are pleased to announce the Excalibur Luxury Artisan series heirloom quality chess set exquisitely made from ebony and boxwood. The King proudly stands at 4.6 inches and its base is robust 1.9 inches. This is a luxury design featuring the magnificently robust and solitary knight.

Weight: 2000 grams approx. (70.54 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The dark chess pieces are made of ebony wood. It would be difficult to find a more sumptuous wood than ebony wood for the dark side chess pieces. The texture of the ebony wood is fine and a true pleasure to hold. The deep luster and total blackness of the ebony wood are exceptional.The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for the white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off aesthetic detail. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board. King, Queens, Bishops, and Pawns have unique collar rings and thick green felts, which precisely envelops the base of each chessmen for smooth movement on the chess board. The lathe work on each chess piece is noteworthy, especially the unique rings and elegant curves.

Design Inspiration: The knight of this chess set is inspired by the sword of the legendary King Arthur. The sweeping mane and distinctive head shape gives the knight aggressive and ready-to-attack look.

Craftsmanship: Did you notice? All chess pieces have handmade dotted lines at the bottom of the shank, for an elegant look. The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, look closely at the eyes, nostrils, teeth and, craftsmanship around the mane. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding that allows the set to truly stand out. They are meticulously handcrafted from the finest grade ebony wood and polished by hand to give it a rich and long-lasting shine. Each chessmen is carefully handcrafted in India and takes some influences from the Pegasus Series. Superb size proportioning from king to the pawn exhibits true intricate craftsmanship in all the pieces. The design, quality, and craftsmanship of these chess pieces are comparable to the luxury chess sets that are sold for $3000+ by other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

Amazing chess set with one minor draw back

Love this set. The craftsmanship is exquisite. Pieces are virtually perfect. Great weight, beautifully made. Personally I'd have preferred a more natural ebony look where you could see wood grain instead of the matte black look. So if I were to buy again I might lean towards the bud rosewood set instead.\n\nIn saying that set does look amazing in black too which suits the style.\n\nThe one thing that was a dissapointment was the quality of the felt. Compared to my other luxury sets ive owned its too thin and lacks the padding needed for a chess set of this weight and size. When you slide the piece you can hear and feel the bases scratching lightly on the board. I'm going to be investigating ways to get the felt off to be replaced. If it was not for that this would be close to the perfect chess set. \n\nAs others have said 2.5"" squares are the minimum for this set. The pieces and particularly the bases are huge.

Ultimate Luxury

This Excalibur Artisan Series chess set was recently received and is a beautiful set carved with amazing skill and incredible detail. The knights are outstanding and lifelike in their detail. The other pieces have unique detailed notched rings around their bases. The King's finial resembles the hilt on King Arthur's sword. This is an heirloom chess set which will require a luxury chessboard with minimum 2.362"" (60 mm) squares, though I would recommend 2.5"" squares as more suitable.

Nicest luxury chess set.

This is an incredibly beautiful set and I am very happy to have purchased it more than once (my son had to have one too ;-)\nThe king looks incredible with that sword/cross and the knights are an absolute work of art.\nThe additional decorations on the base of each piece make this set also unique.\nA 60mm square size board is a little tight, but it still works.

The Excalibur Luxury Chess Set is absolutely beautiful! The kinights are out of this world and the little embroidered ""rings"" around the lower bodies of the other pieces are so attractive and unique! The Kings' crosses are also a real eye catcher and the set was absolutely perfect quality wise. This set will be my pride and joy! I would recommend 2 1/2 inches squares for the chessboard, however as these pieces are big and really need square space to not look cramped together - at least as far as my taste goes! \nThe shipping to Vancouver, Canada from India was very fast - 10 days - and each piece was well wrapped in styrofoam cloth for maximum shipping protection. Don't miss out on this set as it's definitely a collector caliber acquisition - so unique!

Stunning reproduction

The entire set is stunning in its design starting from the King down to the pawn. The design is base on the King Arthur's Sword theme in mind which we name it Excalibur. The Knight are the greatest piece in the entire set which exude the strength of the Chess set. Hence is my favorite set which I encourage all serious collector to include in their collection.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
