This is one of those classic Staunton sets that is a must for serious collectors. Beautifully styled, carved, and weighted, it is a pleasure to use. I liked it so much that I later also got this set in ebony and also eventually in the larger club size. I recommend to get the bud rosewood lacquered if you don't mind playing with glossy pieces. A 55mm squares board (or 2.25"" squares) is a perfect match for this set.

It only took five days for the chess set to arrive in the Netherlands from India. The packaging was done very well with each individual peace wrapped in foam plastic. I love the Design of the knights and bishops the most. Also very pleased with the ‘black’ pieces. The bud rosewood is beautiful!

I initially bought the Red Rum Bud Rosewood and the Ebony sets but didn't think this through before buying because I was planning on using these sets to play on my 2 1/4"" squared board. I found the bases on the Red Rum sets too large for a 2 1/4"" squared board so I ended buying a 2 1/2"" squared board to play with those sets. \n\nI then shopped for a set to play on my 2 1/4"" squared board and found this set with a 3 3/4"" King. I've only had this set for about 2 months and, largely because of COVID-19, I've only played one game. I can say that I loved playing with this set. The bases fit perfectly on my 2 1/4"" squared board. I found the pieces to be very well weighted where you really feel the sturdiness of the pieces when you pick them up to move them on the board. One of the reasons I bought this set is that this will likely be one of the sets that I take out to the Club and I wanted a sturdy set in case pieces were dropped on the floor. The Knight has a solid mane which minimizes the possibility of chipping if dropped. I should indicate that I've ordered the Knights from the Dubrovnik Bud Rosewood set (S1266) with the intention of being able to switch Knights, making in essence two different sets since the bases for both sets are the same style.\n\nOverall, I'm ""extremely"" happy with this set. \n\nOne final recommendation - don't forget to get your Bud Rosewood pieces lacquered. If there's one flaw here is that to get the extra lacquering (which is a ""must"" for any Bud Rosewood pieces, is the extra cost for lacquering. If Bud Rosewood pieces aren't lacquered, the pieces will emit a white powdery residue. Having said that, I ordered my Red Rum sets lacquered but some pieces are still emitting the residue and Chess Bazaar won't provide replacement pieces. As a result of getting the Bud Rosewood pieces lacquered, I decided to also get my Red Rum Ebony and Boxwood pieces lacquered. I had initially ordered a non-lacquered Ebony Red Rum set, sold it and ordered a lacquered set as I find the lacquer does make the pieces ""just the right tone"" to play with.\n\nFinally, I would be remiss if I didn't say something about Chess Bazaar's customer service. I have dealt exclusively with Mayank and have found him to be professional and have been very happy with his service, an excellent reflection for Chess Bazaar.

This is a beautiful Staunton-style set. The finish is, overall, excellent, and the added weight makes these feel fantastic. The bases flare out quite a bit (like a capstan inkwell), which makes the pieces rather stable - they will right themselves even if tipped slightly past 45 degrees. As far as I can tell, these pieces satisfy both USCF and FIDE tournament requirements. The wide bases on the pawns, though, make the recommended board feel just a bit more crowded (which is fine for me). The kings in my set both have a noticeably duller finish than the other pieces, but are still quite lovely. They came packaged well, though without a storage bag, and came with extra queens. I bought these when they were significantly discounted and consider myself rather lucky to have gotten such a great deal.

This is a very elegant chess set at reasonable price. I once bought a similar chess set from ebay at almost half the price but quality was not the same although the seller claimed that in six months he had sold over 500 various chess sets on ebay with over 350 positive feedbacks. I still prefer CB set!

The Sinquefield Cup chess set is a wonderful set. It's my first Rose Wood set (I usually buy ebony) but it's beautiful, and also a pleasure to play with. A piece that was damaged during transit was easily replaced by customer services.

The pieces were individually wrapped. \nThe price seemed high to me.

My board, box and chess pieces arrived this week. The care that Chessbazaar took to package and protect the merchandise was also indicative of the quality of the workmanship. Flawless! I could not be happier with my purchase.\n\nAn aside, Chessbazaar was tremendously solicitous of me re: my satisfaction, tracking of the shipment, follow-up, and responsiveness on questions I had. I won't be looking elsewhere for future purchases. This company knows how to meet its customers' expectations.

At first I wasn't quite sure about the quality of the set and of the whole store but when yesterday I received the parcel and saw the quality of the packaging (there was plenty of cellophan and every single piece was wrapped for extreme protection!), the expectations for the wisdom of my purchase greatly increased. And I must admit: the set is simply wonderful and absolutely flawless and it's a pleasure to hold and see. The knights seem to be alive and all the pieces yearn for fight. The dark pieces are a little less reddish if compared with the pictures but are gorgeous.\nEven my wife, totally aloof about chess, was amazed and loved the set.
