A Distinct Staunton for Daily Play

While I appreciate my Professional Series chess pieces, I also was surprised by their appearance. I selected this set as an affordable, tournament-sized option for daily play. The handicraft quality is apparent. However, about half of the white pieces in my set are sourced from a darker boxwood than the other half, notably in the grain. I don’t mind the darker boxwood itself, and it gives the set an antiqued appearance when compared to other sets I own that have brighter boxwood pieces. But the appearance is internally inconsistent. I’ve adapted by placing the lighter and darker white pieces to the left and right, which offers an unexpected “king-side” signal for the knight and rook. I would guess that other Professional Series sets might have a more consistent appearance, and it’s possible that my set was created by combining two or more partial sets. (Although the product photos here also suggest a tone differential — look at the two white knights.) I’ve adjusted, and I think the Professional Series is an unusual, distinct addition to my growing chess collection.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
