Epic is Back: 1st generation Shera series chess pieces were the archetype of perfection in our luxury series. This Staunton chess set, made from ebony and boxwood, features a 4.5-inch King with a 1.9-inch base. The dark pieces, crafted from rare ebony, are ideal for luxury sets.;

Chess Pieces Weight: 2000 grams approx. (70.54 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

The white pieces are crafted from boxwood, known for its carving ease and beauty. The set includes extra queens for pawn promotion. Each piece is expertly carved, well-weighted, and features collar rings and green felt for smooth movement. The knights highlight the exceptional skill of our Indian artisans.

Craftsmanship: The knight's carving is spectacular, especially around the mane and nostrils. The entire set is meticulously handcrafted from the finest ebony and polished by hand for a rich, lasting shine. Each piece, crafted in India, features intricate details, with quality and craftsmanship comparable to luxury chess sets costing $1000+ from other retailers.

Uniformity of pieces: The turned pieces, guided by metal profiles, are identical, especially the pawns. However, slight variations may occur in hand-carved or cut pieces.i.e. knights.

Beautiful pieces, but better quality control is needed

I must give credit where credit is due. The pieces are beautiful, and heavy with a luxurious feel. \n\nBut, it has been my repeated experience with Chessbazaar that more attention needs to be given to quality control. I have purchased 4 luxury chess piece sets from Chessbazaar and 3 out of 4 sets all had a number of pieces that were either defective, damaged or repaired. It’s frustrating and disappointing because these sets are not cheap by any means and you rightly expect a certain standard of quality, But repeatedly things are overlooked. Such as tool marks, rough patch’s, and deep scratches etc. Unfortunately, most of the time the defects are in very prominent locations and therefore plainly visible. It’s disappointing to say the least. \n\nTo their credit, Chessbazaar has generally been quick to respond to my emails. On occasion they have been somewhat slack. Finally, they did send replacement pieces in good time and via express courier which was much appreciated. So all in all the issues have been resolved for 2 of the 3 sets in question. \n\nThe issue regarding the 3rd of my defective sets (my latest purchase) is yet to be resolved. \n\nAs always I provided Chessbazaar with detailed photos and have sent reminder emails without reply. All of a sudden “radio silence.” It seems like they are only prepared to go so far. After repeated civil emails they have not replied as yet.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Special Circumstances:

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
Shipping Damage: If your purchase arrived damaged, please contact us as soon as possible to initiate a parcel damage claim. To expedite your claim, please email sales@chessbazaar.com with photographs of the package and damaged contents.
Plastic Box Damage: We offer plastic box complementary with some of the chess pieces so we won't be able to send you the replacement for the plastic box if it breaks in transit.
Refused or Undeliverable Packages: Packages returned because of purchaser error or refused delivery are subject to a restocking fee of up to 60% of the purchase price to recover the cost of processing, shipping, and then re-stocking and re-processing the order.
Pre-orders and backorders can be cancelled any time up until the item is in stock and your order has been processed.
