For years and years I have been searching for a set like this. While the Staunton sets look too common and simple, most luxury sets have this baroque overloadedness I just don't really like. This sinquefield design especially of the knight is elaborate but reduced, rogue and bishop are lean without looking too portuguese. material and build quality are excellent, the extra queen a must for a set of this quality. I had to wait long, till I got an affordable offer, that got it to the 2xx-range, now Im just happy and love it in every aspect.

I just received this set after waiting a few weeks while it was on backorder. I had previously obtained the 2017 Sinquefield set in ebony and boxwood, which I had considered to be the best wood combination for this classic style. I later decided to add the Bud Rosewood version. After receiving it, this set may be even more beautiful in Bud Rosewood. All pieces were well crafted, weighted appropriately and heavily, and very importantly had flat bottoms with no rocking or tilting. A choice set to add to your collection, or a perfect choice as an ""only"" top quality set to own.

I have several chessbazar sets, and this is my favorite. The knights are well proportioned and beautiful. They are detailed without being too fancy for serious play. The slope to the base of the other pieces is so pleasing. Not bulky chunky or too thin, but a pleasing curve from a narrow top half accelerating to a satisfying base. The slightly wider collars on the pawns and double collar with accent rings on the bishops, queens and kings are very nice details. The rooks are among my favorites with good girth with an almost imperceptible curve up to the short parapet. Overall it has the appearance and perspective of gazing up at some castle in the distance. The relative sizes and weight of the set is perfect in the hand and for play. I’m so happy with this set that I had to order the ebony version as well.

Compared to the other sets I own these are by far the nicest and best quality! Carving work is detailed, meticulous, and all sanding and polishing makes these chess men stand out a lot. I chose the buffed version and actually those pieces “sparkle”. Packing was very professional, and shipping fast within 6 days from India to USA. Two thumbs up! Great. Los alfiles se sienten un toscos al agarre los caballos tienen a salirse de la mano. en general las piezas no tienen la medida exacta de la decripción.

A beautifully designed set and very good quality crafted pieces. Goes well with a 55mm board. The buff finish and the weight gives a nice solid feel when moving the pieces across the board. 100% recommend it to any chess enthusiast.

As I have already written in my review of the ebony version of this Sinquefield Cup set. I liked the ebony version so much that I also ordered this bud rosewood version as well. To me it is a perfect Stanton set: with delicate pans that are perfect in size and weight, solid rooks as they should be; just beautifully carved knights with excellent detail and perfect size and solid weights. The bishop’s miters are a little wider than usual which looks great and makes them stand out more than in other sets. The queens that are very nice and slender, they could be 2-3 mm taller but are otherwise just perfect. And finally the kings that are also very heavy, solid and a perfect match to the other pieces. Shipping and support was great as always.\nThis has become my favorite set that Chessbazaar has to offer. I slightly prefer the ebony version (a matter of taste I know) and I wish is that Chessbazar would also offer this set in a larger size, with a 115mm King :-). Thank you very much.

The best ever since in any place that ChessBazaar 2017 Sequenfields Cup Set or better known as the Craftsman Set of the Staunton design has captured my heart felt for adding this set into my collection. I strongly felt that the turning and his craftsmanship is above top notch of all the workmanship in producing this superd sets of chessmen. I strongly recommend all collectors or chess players who intend to buy a set, this is the set you should look out for with out any hesitation in acquiring them while stock last. Truly a masterpiece of a real artist creation of a set I have ever seen.
