The pieces have good weight and feel good on the hand. Such a high quality product for the price you pay, unreal work! Highly reccommend if you´re on a tighter budget. Very quick delivery as well :)

I purchased this set mostly due to it's inexpensive price and to try a set with the German knights. From the pics, I wasn't too enthralled over the style of the knights, as I thought they looked cheaply done compared to the more exquisite carving of more expensive sets. Except for the discounted price, I would never have ordered it. I quickly received the pieces, in ebonized and boxwood. I looked them over and set them aside for a few days, satisfied but still not overly impressed. Today I finally started playing with them on a folding linen board with 1.75"" squares. (I would recommend no smaller than that and they would work well up to about 2 25"", or approx. 45-55 mm squares. Somewhere within that range.) Once I started using them, I was amazed and now it is one of my favorite sets, regardless of price. I liked the solid thunk and slight echo of the pieces landing on the linen board (yes, I probably need to get out more). The weighting, feel and balance of the pieces are perfect. I love the feel of moving them and the slight chunkiness of the pawns and bishops, and the elegant simplicity of the knights. It is wonderful, perfect for both study and play. It is a delight to use. I have to strain to find anything negative about them. My only slight criticism might be that one of the boxwood knights had a couple grooves of the mane cut a little too deeply into the back of it, looking slightly uneven if examined closely from the back. However, some minor occasional flaws and variances might be expected on hand carved items, as opposed to manufactured items where everything is stamped out identically. Overall, quality was very high for these hand carved wooden pieces. I am delighted with them.

I received these chess pieces quickly and in flawless condition. I had ordered them primarily for the great price and the uniqueness of the German knight. I was not disappointed. A nice set of chess pieces for the price!

I ordered this set because I wanted a Chess Set with a German Knight and the Pawns looked really cure with their big round heads. The set looks even better in real life than in the pictures and Chess Bazaar provides many pictures of its Chess Sets so that the buyer can really see what the set is like before making an informed choice (unlike many of its competitors). The quality of this Chess Set is awesome and its value is off the charts given its really reasonable price. I only have the ebonised boxwood and boxwood set because the Sheesham & Boxwood on is backorder, but I am going to get it on backorder soon!

Bought 5 years ago and no issues. Excellent finish, looks, and playability. Works both on 50 and 55 mm squares. If you are looking for a cheap set with German knights this is the nicest I have seen. A bit of tlc with wax after arrival is all that is needed to take care of the tops of the rooks.

After doing a lot of research and several online queries to Sapna, I finally decided to order these pieces from ChessBazaar. I ordered from Colombo Sri Lanka on 09 Nov and received them via India post to Sri Lanka Central Mail exchange on 17 Nov. The pieces were enclosed in a plastic box with good padding and each piece was individually padded to ensure no damage during shipment which impressed me most. ChessBazaar gave me a holiday discount and the total cost of this deal was 53.75 USD and just LKR 150 (1.00 USD) to clear customs in Sri Lanka !! This was fantastic.\nI should point out that I always read the negative reviews first before making any online purchase and I was initially a bit concerned after watching a youtube video where some negative reviews were made about a mid-range piece set I was hoping to buy later. I ordered this set on a Friday evening and it arrived on Maui this Tuesday afternoon. Amazing! As for the set itself, I cannot say enough. I've had a board with 1.75"" squares for years and never found a set that was just quite right. This one is perfect! The king stands at an impressive 3.7 inches and while the pieces seem nice and husky, the bases of the pieces are not so wide that my board seems crowded. I was surprised by the German knights. They are bigger and brawnier than they appear in the pics and are not dainty in the least. Even the pawns that stand at just below 2"" seem bigger than they are. I cannot say enough about this set. The price is a deal and the set is worth every penny. Thanks, Chessbazaar!
