Beautiful Autumn Tones

I ordered this board to pair with the 1972 Reykjavik Championship Chess Pieces in bud rosewood. I already have Chess Bazaar’s 60mm ebony and maple board, and this model is a good option when I’m looking for something different. Notably, the bud rosewood elements of this board are lighter than the bud rosewood pieces in my Reykjavik set. Because of this, on first glance the board may appear to have an orange tone to some — it did to me. However, when it’s placed next to something that actually is orange, it’s clearly a red hue, less blood red and closer to jasper in the brightest parts of the grain. The product photos for the Reykjavik set are an accurate representation of what the purchaser can expect.\n\nThanks Chess Bazaar for another great chess board!

There are better choices.

I purchased this board with a set of the Honor of Staunton Series Chess in Bud Rosewood and Box Wood with 4.1 king. I thought the colors of the board would be a perfect match to those of the Chess, as shown in the pictures. But it turns out that the darker color of the board is much lighter. It looks more orange than dark red. While the brighter color makes the chessboard less quiet, it is still pleasant to look at. \nTo my dismay, there is a bubble underneath the lacquer layer in the square f6 or d3, depending on the orientation. It’s an eye sore that I have to live with or ignore. \nSquares are not finely fitted. Black lines surrounding the squares are visible.\nThe vertical and horizontal pieces of the border that separates the squares and the frame and those of the frame itself are not cut in 45 angle at the joints. While this is acceptable for the frame, as the corner of the board is rounded rather than square, the joints of border really make the chessboard cheap looking.\nFor the same amount of money, there are better choices available in the United States, which also comes with world wide free shipping.\n

Wow!

To our amazement it arrived so well wrapped up, that it was not only in perfect condition, but even the very light and beautiful luster did not reflect any disturbing light into our eyes as with some other boards.\nIndeed, Mayank kept in constant contact with us, while advising and helping us in every way possible.\nIn conclusion, we now know to whom we should turn whenever the subject af the quest for a chessboard turns up.\nThank you again!\nMr.

Stuck in customs

Well, this was ordered to arrive in Greece but it was stuck in customs with the duties and other processing fees by DHL exceeding its original price. So I had it returned instead... Chessbazaar said that the duties and fees to accept it back in India exceeded its value too. So it was abandoned at customs. Long story short, they offered me a store credit of about 1/3 what I spent. Beware...

Overall Happy

It's a beautiful board. One problem I had initially is the gloss factor. It comes in a high gloss finish which makes it unsuitable for well-lit places because of all the glare. In this way, it's not as advertised. I take it to the coffee house and it's not a problem. It's also not the deep red color the picture shows it to be. It's more like a red/orange color. \n\nChessbazaar was going to charge me $100.00 if I returned it. I got it with a deep discount, so I decided to keep it. I've since fallen in love with it.

Beautiful blood red board, only minor caveats [None at this price]

Got the 21"" blood red bud rosewood board this morning, and a beauty it is. The finish is glossy (lacquered), shinier than indicated by the photos. My only minor caveat is that the white fields are not as evenly grained as the ones in the pictures, but since I got the board during the Anniversary Sale at a much-reduced price I really can't complain. It's certainly a beautiful, very weighty board, and the glossy finish I find very attractive.

Gorgeous Chess Board

Several years ago I purchased bud rose chess pieces from Chess Bazaar. I finally bought the bud rose board to complement this fine set. The bud rose squares don't match the bud rose pieces which are darker, but the board is so exquisite that I don't care. The quality is exceptional especially since the wood grain is highly visible and the board surface has a polished polyeurathane like surface. Delivery was prompt and well packaged.

Company stands behind products

Chess bazaar stands behind their product. Ordered this beautiful \n\n21 inch bud rosewood D0131 last year and enjoyed playing on it. Unfortunately there was a problem with insects inside board and they cheerfully sent me a replacement immediately . Sapna was most helpful and concerned. Thank you for standing behind your products and wonderful customer service..

Problem

Hello. I just received a very nice Shera Series Bud Rose Wood and Box Wood chess set and 21"" Bud Rose Board. It's my first order so I wasn't familiar with the wood tones. Unfortunately the Bud Rose Board is far too light in color. I'm assuming I should have ordered the ""Rose"" board to match the Bud Rose Chess pieces. Please confirm my guess and authorize my return and exchange for the same 21"" board in Rose in lieu of Bud Rose wood. Thank you.

Excellence.

My new chess board and pieces are on display on the dining table. I keep going in to admire them, feel the fine surface of the board, pick up a piece and luxuriate in the sheer tactile delight of them. I matched the board with Bud Rosewood and Boxwood pieces and they look superb. The whole experience has been a delight. The website gives all the information needed, except for the feel of the pieces. The pieces and board I ordered were delivered within a week to the UK. Everything was visible via tracking, peace of mind and great service, thank you.
