Ordered this board with the Smokey Staunton Rosewood pieces and it’s a beautiful set. I set it up by a window and the next day I saw quite a few flaws under the good light. There is noticeable scuffing under the lacquer in a few areas. One area covers half of the g1, g2, h1, h2 quadrant. Another area covers the d1, d2, e1, e2 quadrant. It makes it so when the light hits the board, the areas around the scuffing shine normally and beautifully but the scuffs look matte and are distractingly noticeable. There are also some straight line scratches around the a1 and a8 corners outside the border. This is disappointing as they make it clear in their warranty that these flaws are not covered. I have mixed feelings as it’s possible to just ignore the flaws and accept it for what it is, but I’d rather the flaws weren’t there from Day 1. If I had paid full price for the board I would probably return it but at sale price I have a nice 21” board and pieces for under $300 so it is what it is. I certainly would accept a replacement if they sent it after reading this but I’m not planning on going through the hassle of fighting for one. Very hard to capture in pictures because of the lacquer. Video helps but… yeah, whatever.

I just received my chess board today. This is my first “nice” chess board and I am so impressed! It is just a beautiful piece of workmanship and it completely exceeds my expectations. The dark brown colouring goes beautifully with the Shersham and boxwood chess pieces I also ordered. As well, the whole purchase process was great, from ordering to paying to shipping. And it arrived in only a week from India to Canada. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am. I will certainly be recommending Chessbaazar.com to my friends and will buy from them again.

My board arrived this morning. Quite simply the most beautiful chess board I have ever seen!! Very well packaged, and extremely well crafted!!

The chess board is really gorgeous and beautiful. The finish of the top surface is too good. Feels like a marble finish on the top. The natural grains of the light square makes it very attractive( but subjective to people taste). The Rose wood is also stunning and the board looks sturdy and durable. Only negative is as always if it was available in less price. But there is worksmanship involved, packing and shipping cost is all free so it evens out there. \nI would recommend without a second thought this board to everyone just for its aesthetic finish. \n\nThis also plays well with regular sized tournament chess peices of 3.75 inch King.\n\n

The woods are lovely, with some stunning colour and grain variation in the rosewood. The standard of build is top notch, and the polished finish is lovely to the touch, and to look at. The pictures don't quite capture just how nice this board is.

I recently received this beautiful Indian Rosewood board. Though it's called dark brown, I would say it's actually a medium to dark brown. Some of the squares are somewhat darker than others and all the squares have darker streaks through them. This natural variation in the grain of the wood is not distracting at all while playing and gives each board a unique, individual character since there will be no other exactly like it. I hesitated getting this board, since I already had others this size and my first choice had always been the blood red bud rosewood boards to go with ""red"" or brown colored pieces. Having recently gotten the Bridled knight pieces in dark Rosewood, I decided to try this board with them. It was perfect! This 55mm (2.2"") board worked perfectly with the dark brown Rosewood pieces with a 4.5"" King and should work as well with a 3.75"" King or anything in between. My only regret is that I almost didn't order this board. The Rosewood pieces work well with a bud rosewood board or an ebony board, but on this board makes an unbeatable combination. This board would also work great with virtually any other color pieces. The board arrived in near perfect condition - most would call it perfect, but I am among the most critical, and finally managed to locate a couple very tiny scratches at the edge of the board, which no one would ever notice without a lengthy close examination under the light. The major negative for this board (for me) is that it looks so good that I am now getting more Rosewood pieces to use on it.

Great company. 2 of the dark pawns had scratches from the lathe. They sent 2 replacement pieces with no problems. Very responsive customer service. Excellent workmanship. Highly recommend.

I ordered this dark rosewood board in the 17"" size. It was darker than I expected from the pics, almost black squares. Not necessary a bad thing. It goes very nicely with my ebony pieces and I would guess rosewood too. Quality is great, well finished and silky smooth. The rounded corners are the perfect finishing touch.
