Bought this a month ago, and wow it is flawless! And the price is unbelievable! I have been collecting chess pieces for a long time and this is by far the best! The feel, the weight, the balance, especially the knight, it is easy to grab and to navigate. I own expensive 1849 from an exclusive distributor but they are overprice.

This is a practical choice for someone who wants an attractive, well-crafted wood set at an economical price. Nothing fancy, but a very classical Staunton design that will stand up to rough use and blitz play.

The pieces and the color are georgeous, the dark pieces have very small cracks but I don't know if they are due to dryness. Six pieces came with small bumps but they don't affect the look or the playing

Except for some minor rooks issue, I am extremely pleased with the set I received. Sent out in Friday, received it Monday! That's noteworthy! The set's quality is as good as it gets, each piece individually wrapped so probably that was the reason why the rooks' minor flaws were overlooked. They have some unshiny part probably sanded or some wood polish cream eating up the varnish, but not too annoying to warrant any return, so I'm good with that. Will look to other sets when budget permits.

A beautiful chess set. Sturdy, attractive, and functional, it looks like it is well suited to stand up to the rigors of tournament play. Negatives? I examined it carefully and couldn't find even the smallest of flaws. These pieces appeared to be skillfully crafted as close to perfection as humanly possible.

I am delighted with this chess set - in both looks and feel it oozes quality and in my view also offers amazing value (even better if you can pick it up in a sale). The pieces are nicely weighted, beautifully carved and I echo other comments in that the pieces appear bigger in reality and really should be paired with a larger board (ideally 55mm).\n\nIn terms of this purchase, as ever the ChessBazzar customer service was second to none ; pre-order queries were quickly, efficiently and politely answered (thank you Mayank!); the ordering process was easy. The chess pieces were lovingly and securely packaged and delivery from India was amazingly fast

El set me resultó muy agradable, principalmente por el precio tan accesible, su calidad y esmero en el acabado de cada pieza es excelente. Tiene muy buen peso. Tiene las medidas de las piezas de torneo. Dado que su acabado no es rebuscado es un ser muy bueno para el blitz. Great set- no problems-I recommend Chess Bazaar!

I bought a like new, used set on eBay - great value at the price I paid. Big solid pieces which are simply but well carved with a very nice finish. Not sure how accurate of a Lardy reproduction this is, but the quality, size and weight of the pieces are better than other sets at this price. I suggest a board with 2.25 inch squares - the pieces are bigger than they appear in pictures.

This is the cheapest of the antique repro sets but it is pure quality. The pieces are heavy, beautiful and a joy to play with.They need a board with 2 inch squares as their bottoms are wide but that gives them stability and weight. The grain in the wood is stunning. Lovely set.

some of the pieces had small cracks on them which Sapna kindly replaced. I believe most of these faulty pieces are made outside Chessbazaar by other chess makers in Amristar. These chess makers do not pay proper attention to quality and all of them also target customers in Europe selling them luxury chess sets at very low price. They proudly claim that they make all the chess sets for chessbazaar and House of Staunton and are the best at their profession. However, unlike chessbazaar they all charge for replacement shipment. Several of my friends ordered luxury chess sets from these producers for really low price and surprisingly there were a large number of faulty pieces for which they had to pay again to be replaced by the company. At the end of the day the final price would end up looking something similar to chessbazaar prices. My advice to all chess lovers is to avoid these chess manufactures and buy only from Chessbazaar to have peace of mind. Chessbazaar does not charge for replacement or postage unlike other chess manufacturers.
