Beautiful Craftsmanship

Wow! This is my first set from Chess Bazaar and I am overwhelmingly pleased. Beautifully handcrafted pieces with excellent weight. Perfect for any use. The shipping was fast as well. I will definitely be getting more handmade pieces in the near future.

Excellent

Great set, perfect size for speed play or slow play. This set has excellent form and weighting and will give both players a great game on a board with 2.25 in x 2.25 in squares. I recommend light brown against light white squares on the board.

An excellent first set

This is my first purchase from Chess Bazaar. I wanted high-quality chess set to keep forever. My requirements were simple: Large, Staunton, and timeless.\n\nThe chess pieces (along with a chess board) arrived at my United States address via FedEx just six days after I placed my order. The pieces were individually wrapped and nothing was damaged.\n\nThe Fierce Knight is a classic Staunton pattern, and the knight varies only slightly from the 1849 Staunton, adding a few grooves to the top of the head, just behind the eyes. The rook’s turrets are notably taller as well. The king, queen, bishop, and pawn are faithful to the original. Anyone looking for a reasonably priced classic Staunton set will not be disappointed with this one. The pieces feel good in the hand with a low center of gravity. I appreciate the added weight.\n\nI paired this set with the ebony & maple 23-inch, 60-millimeter board. The combination is both striking and classic.\n\nSome sources suggest selecting a board size with a 10-millimeter differential between the king’s base and the square size. I selected a board with 60mm squares, which creates a 15-millimeter difference with this king’s 45-millimeter base. I prefer the 15-millimeter differential. The board does not look too large for the pieces. At the same time, it does not appear crowded.\n\nThank you Chess Bazaar for the excellent service. You have earned a loyal customer.\n

Great value!

I couldn't pass up this set when offered at a great price. This is a very practical, and well-weighted set at an inexpensive price. Much better than using a cheap plastic set and yet much cheaper than an expensive luxury set. This is an impressive set you can take and use anywhere (though not recommended in the swimming pool).

Beautiful but very fragile

This is a beautiful set, but Rook crowns in particular are extremely fragile, and try ordering the replacement! They charge $50.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
Shipping Damage: If your purchase arrived damaged, please contact us as soon as possible to initiate a parcel damage claim. To expedite your claim, please email sales@chessbazaar.com with photographs of the package and damaged contents.
Plastic Box Damage: We offer plastic box complementary with some of the chess pieces so we won't be able to send you the replacement for the plastic box if it breaks in transit.
Refused or Undeliverable Packages: Packages returned because of purchaser error or refused delivery are subject to a restocking fee of up to 60% of the purchase price to recover the cost of processing, shipping, and then re-stocking and re-processing the order.
