Beautiful Set

This is a very attractive and well-turned chess set. Primarily for display (non-weighted and non-felted) it is a gorgeous pre-Staunton design. One white knight was a bit wobbly. I used a sanding block on the base and it no longer wobbles. Very worth while purchase!

Fabulous customisation service

I saw the Grand Cigar Divan set and knew I had to have one. I however prefer black & white pieces with some weight. So I simply asked if they could customise it for me. Sapna said no problem, offered me a choice of woods (I choose ebony & boxwood) and explained the most weight this set could take was 1200 gram approx. I agreed and also purchased a board (D0181) based on her suggestion due to the base size of the set.\n\nI waited 6 weeks for the set to be made and delivered and it arrived by Fedex so well wrapped I struggled to get into it. Every piece was individually wrapped and then placed in a protective plastic box and wrapped again!\n\nThe set is breathtaking and the board beautiful. I could not be more pleased. Customization increased the cost from about £88 to £120 but I now have a set specifically made for me that is probably unique.\n\nI cannot recommend Chessbazar’s customization service enough. This set will give me years of pleasure.\n\n\n

Excellent with exceptional customer service.

This is a delightful set with an interesting history; when I play it I always feel that I am back a hundred and sixty years ago watching Anderssen and Kieseritzky battle out the immortal game at Simpson's on the Strand. The pieces are not weighted and have a wonderful natural feeling weight...unusual in this day of heavily weighted pieces. The unfelted bases are also add a certain feeling of uniqueness to the set, and speak to another time during the glory days of chess. Kudos to Mr. Singh and all at Chessbazaar for keeping to the original design specs of this set.\n\nOf special note is the customer service I received. You can tell outstanding customer service exists not when things are perfect, but when something goes wrong. I did not like how a few of the pieces sat on my chess board due to the bases being uneven; the pieces were replaced without question, and arrived beautifully packed in the new chess box I ordered as a home for this outstanding set. The problem did not cost me a penny, as all shipping charges were taken care of by Chess Bazaar. Thanks for everything Sapna and Mr. Singh!

A superb set of chessmen

I just recently purchased from Chess Bazaar a Grand Divan antique set. All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.
