We are pleased to announce the all new Columbian Staunton Series, exquisitely crafted in heirloom quality bud rosewood and natural boxwood. The King proudly stands at 3.89 inches and its base is robust 1.65 inches. This is a majestic design featuring the magnificently robust and prepossessing knight.

Weight : 1200 grams (42.32 oz). Please note that the weight in the set is added manually so the final weight of the set can vary by plus or minus (±) 10%.

Dark chess pieces are exquisitely crafted in bud rosewood. Because of its rarity, bud rosewood chess pieces are the primary choice of many chess enthusiasts. Bud rosewood is an alluring wood and probably the most admired wood for luxury chess sets.

The opposing pieces are made of boxwood which is traditionally used for white side. It is one of the fairly easy woods to work with and shows off superlative beauty and herculean artistry work. The set comes with free extra queens for effortless pawn promotion. All chess pieces are expertly carved and weighted for fantastic hand-feel and a very nice thud on the wooden chess board.

Craftsmanship: The carving and the design of the knight are quite spectacular, details around eyes, nostrils, teeth and, craftsmanship near the knight's flowing mane is exceptional. The design of the other pieces is also highly outstanding that allow the set to truly stand out.

Uniformity of pieces: The shapes of turned pieces are guided by metal profiles and so all turned pieces are identical, especially the pawns. You can expect some variation where hand carving or cutting comes i.e. knights.

Awesome Styling

I just received this beautiful set. The craftsmanship was perfect and the detailed, unique styling of the pieces is amazing, especially the intricately carved knights, the flared rooks, unique bishops, and jazzed-up pawns with multiple rings. Definitely not a boring looking set. This is one of the most unique and stylish interpretations of the basic Staunton design. It adds an aesthetic beauty to your playing experience.

A very fine introduction to a new customer.

This was my first purchase through Chess Bazaar as I order this set and The New Reproduced Romanian-Hungarian National Tournament Chess Pieces together, taking advantage of the early Memorial Day sale.\n\nFor this set I went with the bud rose wood and box wood set to further my collection in not only general style but wood type. As with my other set again I was blown away with the overall stunning beauty of this set on top of the overall feel and craftmanship. I have had this set for a while now and I just love it. It is the perfect size for play on a ""standard"" board and it is beautiful. I purchased the ""The New Columbian Staunton Series Chess Pieces in Bud Rose Wood & Box wood - 3.8"" King"". I was very apprehensive about buying these out of India (no offence intended to those who made these sets) as we have all seen some of the quality products that come out of some of the asian countries. But after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance and I have to say that my concerns were unwarranted because the pieces are absolutely beautiful. every piece the same as the other and all smooth and shiny and well weighted.\nI will have no hesitation buying from Chessbazaar again and will recommend them to anyone I hear is looking to buy either chess pieces or full sets. (no I have not been paid or offered incentives for this very very positive review, this is an honest review on the product that I received.\n\nI sent a package to Canada via our Australia Post on the 10th of December and it has not been received there yet (22 days) I ordered this set on the 2/1/2018 and received it at 9am on the 8th of January 2018, some 5 and a half days later. Great workmanship with very good service

Did you ever get a hamburger that looked as good as the one in the pictures? Experience has tought us to regard pictures of advertised goods with some skepticism. Well, in this case - the set I received looks just like the ones in the pictures online on Chessbazaar's site. In fact, in reality, the set is even more beautiful than it is in the pics! A few pieces had some minor issues (I believe they happened sometime between making and shipping because the set was very well packed), and replacements were sent to me the next day after I contacted Sapna about it! Now, that's good service!

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
