The King stands at 4.6 inches with a 1.9-inch base. The fine texture and deep luster of the ebony wood make it a pleasure to hold and an exceptional choice for the dark pieces.

The light pieces are made of boxwood, known for its carving detail. The set includes extra queens for pawn promotion. All pieces are double-weighted, carved with unique collar rings, and have thick green felts for smooth movement. The knights are masterfully crafted by Indian artisans for precision and quality.

The sweeping mane, a distinctive head shape and a bold design of the knight represent the "Lion of Punjab". Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire,The Sikh Empire, founded by Ranjit Singh in Punjab, lasted from 1799 to 1849. It united various Sikh Misls under his leadership. Maharaja Ranjit Singh also completely renovated the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

These are really beautiful and exotic looking, I am very impressed at the finish and quality. I think I have over a dozen of Chessbazaar pieces now, I dont seem to be able to stop when they are on sale.

Having worked in social media and eCommerce for over a decade I am usually q bit suspicious when all comments under a given product are super positive, however . . .\n\nChessbazaar deserves all the praise!\n\nAmazing customer support (cross-channel) starting via chat, answering questions via email and even filling out a super nerdy excel I created to be enabled to better compare piece height and weights.\n\nIn the end, I was even able to save a significant amount of money due to Chessbazaar being super cool and allowing me to use a coupon even though it ended a couple of hours earlier.\n\nShipping was ridiculously fast (Dehli to Leipzig to Düsseldorf in 4-5 days), don’t know how they managed.\n\nWell, that being said: the pieces are simply lovely, great quality, the weight is perfect, don’t know what else to say, you see the pictures.\n\nI bought both a classic set (1860 Andersen) and something fancier (Sher-E-Punjab) in order to play different pieces against each other and I was also afraid I might get bored from the extravagant Knights and wanted to have a back-up. Right now I use the Sher-E-Punjab for the white pieces and the Andersen for the black pieces. Lovely site, Let me tell you <3

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged in our warehouses - so as to avoid any form of damage. We take great pride in our packaging which ensures the package is water proof with plastic wrap and fragile items are safely secured with bubble wrap.

Seller Error: If we made a mistake, such as sending the wrong or incomplete item, please let us know right away and we will gladly send the correct item in exchange whenever possible at no additional cost to you.(Wrong or incomplete items claim must be made within 48 hours of delivery of the item.)
Defective items: If you receive an item with a manufacturer's defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for a replacement.
